1. Mazzo (Restaurant, located in Amsterdam)

This all-day trattoria concept in the heart of Amsterdam’s creative Jordaan quarter was designed by Concrete, a young practice whose studio is a few doors down the street. The restaurant’s owner, IQ Creative, has worked with Concrete before, at venues such as Supperclub and French brasserie Witteveen; Mazzo continues the theme of simply prepared, fresh ingredients and an industrial-style decor. The exposed brick walls and ducting are matched by a cabinet of open pine shelving that stretches the length of narrow volume. With no signage allowed on the facade, a supersized internal logo light fixture gets the message out to passers-by. And they seem to be noticing, as Mazzo is packed with tourists and locals, all enjoying the tasty pasta dishes and pizzas on offer.
