Built by 2getthere and designed by Zagato, its Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) system points the way to a different kind of mobility in a country where car culture is rabid and railways absent. In its first phase, the PRT consists of ten electrically powered, driverless white pods, seating up to four adults and two children, that zip along a kilometre-long course by following sensors, In time, Masdar’s spacious undercroft(the city sits o a concrete raft to help climate control and servicing) will buzz with electric freight and passenger traffic - up to 3,000 vehicles in all.
